Act! Issues after Windows Update
In January 2016, Microsoft released a Windows update which updated Microsoft .NET to version 4.6.1 which may affect your software applications including Act!.
The most common issue for Act! occurs when trying to use the documents tab, open history attachments, or try to attach a file to a note. Act! locks up and may give you the error “Act! has stopped working”. This issue does not affect the integrity of your database however it can cause intermittent and frustrating errors. Act! has responded quickly to this .NET update and released a Hotfix. Please check your version of Act! and the appropriate action below prior to downloading and installing the Hotfix.
Act! v18
Act! v18 supports .NET 4.6 and Windows 10 so there is no requirement to apply this Hotfix.
Act! v17
For Act! v17.0, it is necessary to install v17 Service Pack 2 prior to the Hotfix to resolve this issue.
If you are on Act! v17.1 or above you only need to install the Hotfix and not the service packs.
If you are on Act! v17 Web, we do not recommend upgrading to SP2.
Act! v16 (and earlier)
In Act! v16, this issue can be resolved by upgrading to Act! v18 or removing the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 update. Once you have uninstalled .NET Framework 4.6.1, it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall Act!.
